"There are places I'll remember
all my life
though some have changed
some forever
not for better
some have gone
and some remain
All these
places had their moments
with lovers and
friends I still can recall
some are dead
and some are living
in my life I've
loved them all"
I was born in
Naga City, Went to my first school there when I was 4 years old, celebrated my
birthdays there, had my first holy communion and graduated elementary. i spent
my high school in a different place and left naga for quite some time. when i
came back after a few years, a lot has changed.
i never really
thought naga would changed as much as this. More people are coming in from
different places and are living here, so more and more buildings and
establishments are being put up. there's so much to look at now than there was
before.
when i was
younger, i remembered that naga city was such a peaceful place, especially at
night. only few are seen roaming around the streets. I know because every night
my family and i would always spend our time walking our way to centro to eat
our favorite bulastog and drink gulaman. and while we're walking we would
eat mani that we
always buy from the vendor near the former banko filipino. Also, when the
skater rink at the plaza rizal was still not occupied by street food vendors my
sister and i would play there. I'd have my roller blades and skate board with
me and my sister has her bike. when we're already tired we'd race our way home
leaving our dad walking home on his own.
every sunday's we
would hear mass at the naga cathedral church, i never really liked going to
church cause i don't understand what the priest are saying, but i'd go anyway
cause i feel obliged by my parents. so like a good little girl, i'd sit beside
my parents and pretend as if i'm participating even though deep inside i'm
dying to go out and play with the other kids.
after mass, we
eat at jollibee, the one by the corner in front of plaza quezon, if im correct
that was the only one at that time, now you'll see jollibee in every corner (as
well as mcdo). and after that, we'd go and watch movies at the bichara theatre,
one of the most well-known theaters in the city back then (until the Sm
city naga had been established). tickets cost 45 pesos only, very cheap as
compared to how much it cost nowadays. at that rate you can already get
to see two movies, one after the other and you can watch it as many times as
you lke without having the cinema staff asking that you already have to go out.
on some days,
when i have nothing to do, its very relaxing to just go out and wander the
streets. same as during night time, still you wont often times see a lot of
people. maybe because the population isn't as big as it is now.
there are still a
lot of changes in naga city that i can not anymore mention here. and i know as
the years go by, there will still be a lot of them to come. I just hope that
the things i love in this place will still stay the same. :)
